Don’t Miss Saint Pé w/ Ri¢hie & Reality Something | TONIGHT @ The End

We gave you the heads up on this one last month, but now it’s showtime for former Black Lips’ shredder and Music City transplant Ian Saint Pé, who’s celebrating the release of his debut solo record, Fixed Focus. Performing tonight, April 14 at The End as simply Saint Pé, the reinvented rocker packed his undercard with veteran locals, including blog fav Ri¢hie and rising talents Reality Something, ensuring that the evening’s tunes most certainly will not suck. With so much resident talent packed into a club sized venue, it’s going to fill up fast, so don’t hesitate. SAINT PÉ

If you’re a fan of Atlanta based garage punks The Black Lips, or semi-local supergroup Diamond Rugs, than you’ll recognize Mr. Saint Pé. About three years ago, after ten years of touring the world with the Lips, and two records and tours with the Rugs, Ian decided it was time for a change. He moved to Music City, where he’s been living in a log cabin formerly owned by country legend Roy Acuff. Fast forward a couple years, and now that cabin has also been turned into a studio, and with the help of a number of Atlanta-based friends, his debut album under the eponymous moniker, Fixed Focus, was recorded. It’s not a huge departure from the material he did with The Black Lips and Diamond Rugs, but it’s more of a matured continuation of those projects, maintaining all the garage punk sensibilities, and catchiness. Of course, anything recorded here in Nashville tends to have flavors of the city itself peppered in for good measure. The record dropped just last week, and now Ian is bringing it to the stage for your listening pleasure. Have a taste below, and see him do his new thing live. 

RI¢HIE

At this point, we’ve watched scene staple and party rocker Ri¢hie do his thing many, many times before. But watching him go from a fun, satire, over-twangy drunk country boy caricature, to producing an honest to god good, professional level live act, has been a sight to behold. His various themed costumes have also improved in quality, and, no doubt, based on all his connections around town, he is always backed by a pretty solid set of dudes from various other local bands. Word is a followup to his 2014 LP, Night Game, is finished, but no release date yet. We’ll keep you posted, but for now just know his sets always pack a high level of energy and amusement, and beer chugging is also encouraged.

REALITY SOMETHING

Buzzworthy local garage/grunge rockers Reality Something blew us away  at our Acme showcase awhile back, and we’ve been keeping tabs on them ever since. They seem to be popping up on more and more high profile bills as well, including opening for Ron Gallow at his epic record release show back in February. We’re also very excited to be hearing more and more from their yet to be released new LP, which fans have been eagerly awaiting since they first burst onto the scene with their self-titled debut in 2015. Get to The End on time to sample some of their new wares, and be ready to rock your face off the entire night.
