Bonnaroo‘s annual lineup guessing game, Roo Clues, has moved in recent years to a social-media based, faster paced tease in the weeks leading up the festival’s full announcement. Though we long for the days that we had to scout out real world hints over multiple months to analyze mind-numbing puzzles, it’s still fun to solve internet riddles and play detective, while festival anticipation builds. In total, nine Roo Clues were released over the last three weeks, and we didn’t want to let Lineup Announcement Eve pass without jumping in on the guessing game. Check out who we think will be on the farm below, and check back tomorrow morning for the full bill!

ROO CLUE #1

It’s time for #RooClues! Check our snapchat story (@bonnaroo) for a special hint from Roofus for each clue! Can anyone guess #1? #Bonnaroo

BEST GUESS: Getter

Why: Additional Snapchat clue read “get art,” which sounds like “Getter.” Getter is known for helping popularize the phrase “Suh dude?,” and has an EP called Wat The Frick which depicts a monster truck on the cover.

ROO CLUE #2

Next #RooClues coming your way! Roofus is leaving hints on our Snapchat story! (snap = bonnaroo) #Bonnaroo

BEST GUESS: The Orwells

Why: George Orwell wrote the famous novel Animal Farm. The Orwells’ sophomore album was called Disgraceland.

These kids tore their tent stage apart in 2014 (literally), so it’ll be cool to see them back for a proper big set.

ROO CLUE #3

Time for more #RooClues! Check bonnaroo on snapchat for a hint from Roofus! #bonnaroo

BEST GUESS: NGHTMRE

Why: “Man of the round table” = knight, a homophone for “night,” shortened here to “nght.” A mare is a female horse, or “feminine farm animal,” shortened here to “mre.” For extra validation, the Snapchat clue was a horse.

ROO CLUE #4

Ready for more #RooClues? Remember to check our snap story for a hint from Roofus! (snap = @bonnaroo) #Bonnaroo

BEST GUESS: Borgore

Why: Albert (Al) Gore famously claimed (or was quoted out of context in claiming) to have “invented the internet.” Uninteresting = boring, or a bore. Gore bore, Borgore.

So, uh, we’re really going all in on EDM this year, huh?

ROO CLUE #5

Time for #Rooclues #5! Check our snap story for a hint from Roofus! #Bonnaroo

A photo posted by bonnaroo (@bonnaroo) on Jan 3, 2017 at 6:45am PST

BEST GUESS: Umphrey’s McGee

Why: “There are strange things done in the midnight sun” is a line from the Robert W. Service poem “The Cremation of Sam McGee.” Anchor Drops is the name of Umphrey’s’ 2004 third album. Snapchat clue shows a kitchen, and the song”In The Kitchen” appears on that album.

This one seems more in line with Bonnaroo’s typical fare.

ROO CLUE #6

Get ready for more #RooClues! Lineup drops on 1/11 and tickets go on sale at the SAME TIME! Check snapchat for hints & enter to win 2 Platinum tix through the link in our bio!

A photo posted by bonnaroo (@bonnaroo) on Jan 5, 2017 at 7:01am PST

BEST GUESS: Dua Lipa

Why: Hell is a town in Michigan (yes, really). One of her latest singles is called “Hotter Than Hell.” Her most recent single is called “Blow Your Mind (Mwah),” and the Snapchat clue read “What sound does a kiss make?” Dua sounds like “duo” which is two people; “not enough room for 3.”

_

ROO CLUE #7

Pssst, 2 more #RooClues after this one! Then the lineup drops on Jan 11 at 8am ET! Check our snaps for hints & enter to win Platinum tickets through the link in our bio!

A photo posted by bonnaroo (@bonnaroo) on Jan 6, 2017 at 8:15am PST

BEST GUESS: Big Gigantic

Why: Big Gigantic has a song called “The Little Things,” which is tantamount to the “teeny tiny things.” The Snapchat clue showed a game of “Hopscotch,” which is the name of another Big G song. “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” is also known as a popular hopscotch song.

ROO CLUE #8

2nd to last of the #RooClues! Full lineup & tix available 1/11 8AM ET! Enter to win 2 Platinum tix & a Le Bon Cabana through the link in our bio!

A photo posted by bonnaroo (@bonnaroo) on Jan 7, 2017 at 8:06am PST

BEST GUESS: Cage the Elephant

Why: Timothy the mouse, a tiny creature, is Dumbo the elephant’s best friend in classic Disney cartoon Dumbo. An elephant “behind bars” would be in a “cage.” The Snapchat clue featured snow and the word “freezing,” and Cage are prepping to release something new called “Cold Cold Cold,” which they’ve been recently teasing.

ROO CLUE #9

Last of the #RooClues! Lineup & tix comin’ Wednesday at 8AM ET! Enter to win 2 Platinum tix & a Le Bon Cabana through the link in our bio!

A photo posted by bonnaroo (@bonnaroo) on Jan 8, 2017 at 9:33am PST

BEST GUESS: Lorde

Why: The internet tells us Lorde’s high school nicknames were “Dusty” and “Casper.” Casper is known as the “friendly ghost.” It’s a commandant not to take the Lord’s name in vain. The Snapchat clue featured Bonnaroo’s mascot in a crown. Lorde’s most famous single is “Royals.”

Some of these had us a little worried, but Lorde and our pals Cage are very promising!
