We’ve been looking forward to this one for a while now. Futurebirds return to Nashville tonight with their unique mix of southern rock and 70s psychedelia, along with the latest solo project from T. Hardy Morris. The show goes down tonight (Dec. 16) at Mercy Lounge, and tickets are still available for only $15. Head below to read more.
FUTUREBIRDS
Indie rockers Futurebirds hail from Athens, Georgia, and have been making waves with their experimental alt-country sound since 2008. After the release of their debut album, 2010’s Hampton’s Lullaby, and their follow-up EP Via Flamina, they became known for their distinctive mixture of pedal steel and electric guitar. At the same time, they quickly developed a strong stage presence, which has helped them gain a strong legion of fans who come out to show after show.
With the release of their third album Hotel Parties, the band showcased a fuller and more mature sound that showed just how far they’d come musically in just seven years. As alt-country steadily grows in popularity, Futurebirds still manages to create music outside the norm.
T. HARDY MORRIS & THE HARDKNOCKS
If there’s one word to describe T. Hardy Morris, it would be unique. From his mixture of country and psych-rock with project Dead Confederate to the supergroup Diamond Rugs, he constantly keeps a hand in the most wonderfully weird musical outlets. Last year, he released Drownin’ on a Mountaintop under the moniker Hardy & The Hardknocks. The record mixes the fuzz and emotion of great grunge rock with the darkness of the moodiest alt-country honky tonk tunes. If you’re looking for something gritty and experimental, make sure to get there early to check out his surprising sound.
Futurebirds and T. Hardy Morris will perform Dec. 16 at Mercy Lounge. The show is 18+, begins at 9:00 p.m. (doors at 8:00 p.m.), and tickets are available to purchase for $15.00.
