RICH ROBINSON

We gave you the heads up, and a shot at free tickets, on this one last week, and now the time has come! Music City, please welcome The Rich Robinson Band to town tonight at City Winery. Tickets to the all ages show are still available for $22-$30, and if you like your rock ’n’ roll scattered, covered, smothered … Southern style … then this is the show for you. Click on to learn more about the workhorse brother from The Black Crowes–who you might not recognize on sight, but you’ll certainly recognize with your ears–and we hope to see you there tonight!

THE RICH ROBINSON BAND

Forming one of the most important Southern rock bands of the modern era with his older brother Chris at just 17-years-old, Rich Robinson has basically lived his entire life as a successful professional musician. Growing up in Atlanta, he began writing the music for what would become the songs of The Black Crowes’ seminal 1990 debut album, Shake Your Money Maker, which went 7x platinum. Over the next decade, his arrangements evolved with each new release, eventually becoming the driving force behind the band’s success, as they powered on to over 25 million records sold, before taking one of several a hiatuses in 2001. In 2004, Rich released his first solo album, Paper, a chance to showcase his amazing (often overlooked) guitar playing, and, for the first time, he took on the role of lyricist and lead vocalist. After working with legends like Jimmy Page and Bad Company, plus a couple of Crowes reunions, he is back on his own, now performing with The Rich Robinson Band. Their latest release, Flux, which dropped this past summer, is more of the awesome tones and words we’ve come to expect from a giant in the game. Be there in person when he puts it down with beauty and finesse, and watch a living master continue to build his legend.

The Rich Robinson Band will perform Friday, Sept. 16 at City Winery. The show is all ages, begins at 8 p.m. (doors at 6 p.m.), and tickets are available for $22-$30.
