Brian Wilson to Celebrate ‘Pet Sounds’ Sept. 17 at The Ryman

On May 16, 1966, The Beach Boys released what has become one of the most, if not the most, critically acclaimed albums of all time: Pet Sounds. A product of the unparalleled genius and singular vision of Brian Wilson, the record was initially under appreciated in its time (even by Wilson’s own bandmates), but, in the years since, has been recognized and heralded for its brilliance. After many decades of health issues and seclusion, Wilson began performing with more regularity again in the early ’90s, and has since played Pet Sounds in full on a handful of occasions. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the beloved singer just has announced his most ambitious Pet Sounds tribute yet: a worldwide tour, where he will play the album in full, one last time. The trek will return Wilson to Nashville this fall, Sept. 17 for a performance at The Ryman Auditorium, perhaps one of the best spaces on the planet to experience Pet Sounds live. Former Beach Boys Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin will be a part of Brian’s live band, making it just as much “The Beach Boys” as the Mike Love-led project using the name (or, in our opinion, moreso, since Brian is The Beach Boys’ most integral member), and the set will feature some additional hits from Wilson’s lengthy career as well. Alongside Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson is almost certainly the greatest living songwriter of his generation, and this is your chance to see his crowning achievement celebrated in full. Grab your tickets beginning Friday, Jan. 29 at 10 a.m. CST right here, or miss out on the show of a lifetime.
