Catch The SteelDrivers, Parker Millsap, Taarka, & The Ransom Notes | TONIGHT @ Music City Roots

Music City Roots is back for its first show of the new year TONIGHT, Jan. 6 with an absolutely incredible lineup you don’t want to miss! Legendary bluegrass band (and former bandmates of Nashville’s new favorite son, Chris Stapleton) The SteelDrivers will perform alongside emerging and acclaimed singer-songwriter Parker Millsap, eclectic string band Taarka and progressive acoustic trio The Ransom Notes. The doors at The Factory in Franklin open an hour before the 7 p.m. showtime and the show is all ages. Tickets are just $10 and available here. Read on for more details about all the acts!

THE STEELDRIVERS

If you haven’t yet heard legendary local bluegrass band The SteelDrivers, it’s about time you did. Originally formed by fiddler Tamy Rogers, bassist Mike Fleming, banjoist Richard Bailey and frequent co-writers Mike Henderson and Chris Stapleton, the band were quickly picked up by Rounder Records and Grammy nominated for both their 2008 debut The SteelDrivers and 2010’s follow up Reckless. Though 2010 and 2011 saw the departures of Henderson and Stapleton, the group continue to be a dominating force in bluegrass and country music with current members Gary Nichols and Brent Truitt. The SteelDrivers’ most recent release, 2015’s The Muscle Shoals Recordings, was co-produced by Jason Isbell and pays homage to their personal and musicological Alabama roots. PARKER MILLSAP

You may remember Parker Millsap from our Best Albums of 2014 list on which his self-titled album Parker Millsap was featured. An equally great accomplishment, the album also earned him a spot as one the Americana Music Association’s Emerging Artists of the Year. Millsap’s soulful sound and captivating performances have brought him a large amount of attention in a very short amount of time. It’s attention that his great songs, vocal grit and signature Oklahoma wryness certainly deserve. Catch him tonight at Music City Roots!

TAARKA

Taarka are an eclectic string band hailing from Lyons, CO. Husband and wife duo David Tiller and Enion Pelta-Tiller have led the outfit armed with fiddles, octave mandolins and tenor guitars since 2001, releasing a truly impressive discography along the way. Equal parts gypsy jazz, folk pop and bluegrass, Taarka are truly unique and not to be missed!

THE RANSOM NOTES

The Ransom Notes are a young acoustic trio that use their skillful instrumentalism to draw together bluegrass, Celtic and classical influences. These longtime Colorado residents are actually recent new transplants to Tennessee, so come welcome them to town!
