Trombone Shorty-620

We’ve been hyping this one since July, when Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue first announced their triumphant return to Music City. Well, faithful readers, the day is finally here, and Mr. Shorty and his crew are ready to turn the party out TONIGHT at Marathon Music Works with help from New Breed Brass Band in the opening spot. You can still snag tickets for just $12-$25, but don’t sleep on this one, because if the show is anything like last year’s performance (and we have a feeling it will be), it’s going to be one of the livest parties all year. The music for the 18 + show starts at 8 pm (doors at 7), so don’t be late, and bring your dancing shoes because everyone will be cutting loose! Read on for further details and we hope to see you there.

TROMBONE SHORTY & ORLEANS AVENUE

Already achieving “legend” status in his native New Orleans, Trombone Shorty (birth name Troy Andrews) got his nickname at the tender age of 6 … when he was already a band leader. In the two decades that have followed, with help from his band Orleans Avenue, Shorty has released critically acclaimed records, played pretty much any festival that you can imagine, and has collaborated with everyone from U2 to Green Day to Lenny Kravitz to Jeff Beck to Kid Rock. Blending genres like funk, soul, rock, jazz, R&B, and rap with ease, we are here to tell you these guys bring the motha fuckin’ party, and if it’s anything like their Music City stop last year, this will be one of the best shows of 2015. Trust us. YOU… NEED… TO… BE… THERE.

NEW BREED BRASS BAND

Fellow New Orleans natives, New Breed Brass Band don’t just talk the talk, in terms of their hometown’s musical heritage, they walk the walk. They live and breath the culture, infusing funk, rock, jazz, and hip-hop into a custom-made, one-of-a-kind enhancement of second-line brass band tradition. With a line-up that swells to nine members at times, New Breed have been building a name for themselves, and rocking the party everywhere they go, including Bonnaroo 2015. Have a taste below, and get to Marathon early the day of the show to get as much New Orleans inspired tunage as possible.

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Ave plus New Breed Brass Band will perform TONIGHT (12/11/15) at Marathon Music Works. The show is 18+, begins at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.), and tickets are available for $12-$25.
