Big news for fans of East Nashvillian alt-Americana songwriter Aaron Lee Tasjan; his new record, In The Blazes, is out today! So, in its honor, we are premiering another great track (see this post too) entitled “Judee Was A Punk.” The new album was recorded with Delta Spirit producer Eli Thomson, Dan Bailey (Father John Misty’s drummer), and solo artist/multi-instrumentalist David Vandervelde … plus Aaron is no slouch either, cutting his teeth as a touring guitarist for the New York Dolls, Drivin N Cryin, and Alberta Cross.
The song is a nod to the cult-loved performer Judee Sill, who was the first artist signed to David Geffen’s fledgling Asylum label. A wild child for sure, she released two albums before dying of an overdose in 1979 at age 35. Learn more about her in song after the jump, and get hip to ALT live and in person this Saturday, Oct. 10 at Found Object, where he will be opening up for John McCauley (Deer Tick, Diamond Rugs). Tasjan also has an official record release show set for Oct. 25 at The Basement, and you can grab tickets right here.
