If you’ve seen those delightfully creepy new promos for FX’s upcoming season of anthology horror series American Horror Story, this time named/themed Hotel, you’ve perhaps noticed that haunting, gorgeous, and perfectly placed cover of Elvis Presley’s classic “Heartbreak Hotel” playing in the background. That voice sounds familiar, right? No, you’re not crazy; it is, in fact, local singer-songwriter and native Nashvillian Heidi Feek, whose vocal prowess and incredible ability to blend the best, most nostalgic parts of classic country and western music with modern pop accessibility make her a site favorite. We’re thrilled to bring you the exclusive premiere of Heidi’s new video for her “Heartbreak Hotel” cover, which perfectly captures the spooky vibe of the reworked track. Created and directed by Feek’s husband Casey Pierce, the video references The Shining, among other haunting imagery, and boasts guitar work from Jeremy Fetzer, recorded at local studio Welcome To 1979. Check it out below!
