Saul Williams to Perform at Exit/In on October 4!

Saul Williams-620

One of our favorite venues Exit In has been unfolding their fall schedule of shows as of late. This past week they announced that on October 4, writer/slam poet/actor/rapper Saul Williams will perform. Williams has been pushing the boundaries of artistic convention ever since the turn of the century. He has put his name behind everything from intriguing collaborations to a plethora of poems motivated by social justice, racial identity, and societal inequality. Williams has consistently been able to distinguish himself as an individual and unique force in music, literature, and film.

While his 2001 debut Amethyst Rock Star and his 2004 self-titled album gave Williams sporadic bits of national attention, it was his groundbreaking 2007 album, The Inevitable Rise and Fall of Niggy Tardust, that really brought him the appreciation he deserves. It was a result of his budding partnership with Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, and the album was a 15 song journey through the mind of an artist that seeks to challenge modern day perceptions of art and genre. Williams finds his stop in Nashville in the midst of worldwide support for his newest release Martyr Loser King, and will be at Nashville’s Exit/In on October 4. Tickets can be purchased here, and you can check out the new single “Burundi“ from the new album below.
