Family Affair: He’s My Brother She’s My Sister | The High Watt | 11.3.12

I was delighted when the offer to check out He’s My Brother She’s My Sister was tossed my way, and, truth be told, a little embarrassed. How had I not heard them before? I gotta’ step up my game. I’m a sucker for sibling acts (Secret Sisters, Tegan and Sara, The Breeders) even when they’re fiction (The White Stripes). Plus I do love me some snapping and a good old-fashioned sing-along, so you can bet that I was shaking it to this little ditty all morning…

He’s My Brother She’s My Sister is one of those bands like Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Nashville’s Kopecky Family Band, or the less-cuddly and more cult-like Polyphonic Spree that inspires a desire to run away and join their circus because 1. they’re having such a darn good time and 2. they have just enough members making diverse enough contributions that you might be able to stow away on their tour bus without anyone noticing – if you brought along a tambourine and tapped it like you were supposed to be there.

Maybe I’ll get my chance! They’re playing this Saturday, November 3rd at the High Watt (tickets here) and if all goes as planned, we’re gonna’ offer up a little post-show interview for your pleasure. Until then, I’ll be watching The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia and polishing my shuffle off to Buffalo in hopes of impressing band member, Laura Brown, and her clackin’ heels.
