Watch Taylor Swift Sing “Hands Down” with Members of Dashboard Confessional, Paramore

Pop megastar and sometimes Nashville resident Taylor Swift has been popping up left and right in Music City lately, and that’s because she’s holed up here rehearsing for her upcoming 1989 world tour, which kicks off next month and will return her to Bridgestone Arena on Sept. 25 and 26 (regular tickets sold out quick, sorry). And, while normal “Taylor Swift at Whole Foods” and “Taylor Swift hiking” occurrences aren’t exactly out of the ordinary, the strange and strangely Nashville pairing documented in the Instagram clip below (posted by Swift herself) definitely is.

Some context: T-Swift’s childhood friend Abigail (the one she used to reference in her lyrics) was, apparently, a huge fan of Dashboard Confessional in her teens. Gearing up for a comeback tour, Dashboard Confessional (and now Twin Forks) singer Chris Carrabba (who, himself, has been known to cover Swift) recently relocated to Nashville. Swift invited him to Abigail’s birthday party over the weekend as a surprise, where Paramore’s Hayley Williams, also a Nashvillian, happened to be in attendance (she’s a friend of both Swift’s and Carrabba’s). The result? An infectiously gleeful singalong of classic Dashboard tune “Hands Down,” featuring some of our city’s biggest musical stars. You can watch a few seconds of the epic mashup below. Enjoy.
