They’ve pulled together an 11-piece world-class band to play blues and Americana music with them and with all those credentials, it’s no wonder that their second night in a row at The Ryman is sold out. SINATRA FOREVER w/ RICK MICHEL
@ War Memorial | 8pm | $45+ | 18+
Every generation boasts a handful of artists that transcend pop culture and become timeless musical figures. In the mid-20th century, Frank Sinatra accomplished this. Though Sinatra passed away in 1998, his backing band and a few newer musicians now perform with Las Vegas entertainer Rick Michel (who sounds remarkably like Sinatra) as Sinatra Forever. The group plays both original Sinatra tunes and music from Frank’s contemporaries. Michel heavily stresses on his website that Sinatra Forever isn’t a cover band, but rather a homage to the man. Regardless, this is going to be one classy performance, and it’ll take place in the suitable upscale War Memorial Auditorium. [JS]
ABBEY ROAD LIVE: A VALENTINE’S BEATLES TRIBUTE
@ Exit/In | 8pm | $15 | 18+
This is year number thirteen for Abbey Road LIVE, the group that has, since 2002, been bringing The Beatles’ music to you personally. So here’s an opportunity to classics by the Beatles (which in and of itself is awesome) performed by guys who have been playing for over a decade. And seriously, just for $15? This is a bargain if we ever saw one. [BM]
RICK SPRINGFIELD
@ Wildhorse Saloon | 7:30pm | $47-$190 | 18+
Famed Australian songwriter Rick Springfield will be performing two back to back shows at the Wildhorse Saloon Friday and Saturday evening. Though Springfield’s musical career undoubtedly peaked during the 1980s, he’s remained relevant due to two key reasons: his acting role in both runs of General Hospital and America’s complete inability to get over the song “Jessie’s Girl.” Regardless, this is going to be a fun performance, especially for attendees old enough to have liked Springfield back when he first broke. [JS]
SATURDAY

@ Cannery Ballroom | 9pm | $15 | 18+
Hosted by local country crooner Caitlin Rose, Cannery Ballroom is hosting a great Valentine’s Day option for music lovers (and lovers of love, as it were). Boasting a full orchestra, food supplied by the Grilled Cheeserie (not included in the ticket price), seating, and plenty of room for dancing, Rose will be joined by an impressive slate of guest singers, including Tristen, Derek Hoke, Courtney Jaye, Justin Collins, Reno Bo, Luella Wood, and more, and backed by a full orchestra, to cover classic love songs from the ’30s to ’50s. Not a bad, classy way to spend an otherwise overly-commercialized holiday. [PO]
DEEPER & DEEPER ft. AJ & THE JIGGAWATTS, THE DEEP FRIED FIVE, AMANDA BROADWAY

Need a place to groove with your guy/gal on Valentine’s Day? Look no further than Mercy Lounge, where for a mere ten bones, you’ll be jumping and jiving to AJ & The Jiggawatts, The Deep Fried Five, and Amanda Broadway with your sweaty sweetie allllll niiiiiite looooong. [MH]
THE GRAYCES w/ KATY GUILLEN & THE GIRLS, PHIL HUMMER AND THE WHITE FALCONS
@ The Basement | 9pm | $5 | 21+
Female-fronted local hard rockers The Grayces sound like a cross between Black Sabbath and Bleach-era Nirvana with a girl in the lead. They’ll be joined by the hard all-girl blues trio Katy Guillen & the Girls and retro rock group Phil Hummer and the White Falcons, who play rock influenced by that music in its original state from artists like Carl Perkins, Wanda Jackson, and Jerry Lee Lewis. If you want a rock & roll Valentine’s Day, this is the show to be at. [JSa]
HILLBILLY CASINO w/ THE TIP, BAILEY DEE
@ Exit/In | 9pm | $8 | 18+
Bringing their trademark, totally unique brand of Rockabilly, some dub psychobilly, locals Hillbilly Casino are known to show out (read this post). Alt-rockers The Tip and Chicago R&B, rock ’n’ roller Bailey Dee fill out a diverse bill of music that can’t be passed up for just $8. So if you’re single, or you can’t get a V-Day dat … or just think it’s a stupid holiday to begin with, get your ass to Exit/In for more fun than a lifetime supply of those shitty little heart candies. [JR]
SHOVELS & ROPE w/ CAROLINE ROSE
@ Ryman Auditorium | 7:30pm | SOLD OUT | All Ages
We’ve been obsessing over alt-countru/folk duo Shovels & Rope for several years now, and have made a point to document their Nashville performances, each slightly bigger (and always sold out). This time around, the talented group have graduated to the stage they most deserve: The Ryman. We hope you snagged your tickets when we first announced this one months ago, but it’s long been sold out. [PO]
LYDIA LOVELESS
@ The High Watt | 9pm | $12 | 18+
Lydia Loveless was named as one of 2014’s “artists you need to know” by several folks, including Rolling Stone, who went on to say she sounds like “Loretta Lynn and Patti Smith slamming shots at a Midwestern dive bar while cowboys and punks brawl out back.” Which, to us, makes this Saturday’s show at The High Watt the perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Check out Lydia performing “Come Over” at Bloodshot HQ, from her 2014 album Somewhere Else. [JMo]
RICK SPRINGFIELD
@ Wildhorse Saloon | 7:30pm | $47-$190 | 18+
This show is the second of two performances by famoed Australian songwriter Rick Springfield. While we won’t go into too much detail on the show (see the Friday entry for more info), we will leave you a Springfield song that isn’t “Jessie’s Girl.” Enjoy the video “Love Somebody” below, and its amusing shots of Springfield acting in the cheesiest, most 1980s way possible. Be sure to check out the heated phone slam around the 1:00 minute mark. [JS]
SUNDAY
TURBO FRUITS w/ IDLE BLOOM
@ 3rd & Lindsley | 8pm | $10 | All Ages
With a Patrick Carney produced new album around the corner (No Control, out April 20), a killer new single and accompanying video (“The Way I Want You,” see below), and a renewed crop of media buzz, 2015 is shaping up to be a great year for Nashville garage rockers Turbo Fruits. We suspect that their 3rd & Lindsey Nashville Sunday Night show with Idle Bloom, at only $10, is a sure-thing to sell out, so grab your tickets while they last! [PO]
