As a music blog, we (theoretically) should be in the know about up and coming bands in Music City all the time.  Of course, this is a challenging task with the explosive growth, particularly in the non-country genres around town.  One of the best ways that we have found is at many of the free showcases around town like our own Tuesday night showcases at Acme Feed & Seed, New Faces Nite at The Basement, and, of course, 8 off 8th at Mercy Lounge on Monday nights.

Tonight’s 8 off 8th actually features 10 bands performing at the Cannery Row venue off 8th Avenue, and features a wide variety of acts that we have covered before and some new ones for us.  Hen Hause presents an evening featuring blog faves like Staying For The Weekend, Omega Swan, Ponce Brothers, and The Astrochimps, but also introduces us to a genre spanning mix of new-to-us artists Dylan McDonald And The Avians, Oginalii, Kat Milk Blu, Sun Roc, Masseuse, & Patachi Kid.

If you are looking for FREE entertainment tonight, then head on down to Mercy Lounge around 9pm.  Who know’s, you might just find your new favorite band.
