Our newest contributor Andrew dropped a few notes about his show pick of the weekend.  Welcome Andrew…

Nashville’s Black 13 Tattoo Birthday Party at Mercy Lounge featuring Street Corner Symphony, Hillbilly Casino, Five Knives, and Birdcloud is your best bet for music tonight.  Here’s 5 reasons why:

1. Street Corner Symphony is on the bill.  Runners-up on the NBC TV show The Sing Off, SCS easily captivates the audience with a feel-good approach to a cappella song arrangements, solid, in the pocket, beat-box accompaniment, and ridiculous vocal talent.  Hopefully, they’ll do their rendition of “Down On The Corner,” that they did on The Sing Off.

2. Birdcloud is funny and cute.  They have a song called Indianer, which makes fun of Southerners who wrongfully claim Indian heritage.

3. Hillbilly Casino brings you the Robert’s Western World rockabilly sound without having to sidestep fake cowboys and hoards of tourist downtown.

4. Five Knives are electronically intense like a game of Simon on speed that explodes if you press the wrong color.

5. It’s Free.  You can save money for a tattoo or blow all your money on booze.
