Local punk favorite PUJOL is coming off the release of his highly-received sophomore album KLUDGE this spring and has been touring with indie punk rockers The Screaming Females. The Females would alone be worth seeing for one of the best frontwomen in punk rock and in combination with PUJOL any rock and roll lover in Music City would be remiss to miss this gig. They’re stopping at The Stone Fox with local supergroup Roadblock tonight and given local veneration for Daniel Pujol the show is likely to be packed. PUJOL
Nashville’s punk king Daniel Pujol released his sophomore album, KLUDGE, this spring and successfully evaded that whole sophomore slump thing by making a record that the national and local music press said was better than his first. Recorded in part at a teen suicide prevention center in Mt. Juliet and a garage under construction among other weird places, KLUDGE is one of those rare albums that can appeal to punk purists and those who aren’t so into the genre. The record will be on the list of best local albums of the year.
Screaming Females
Only one of Screaming Females is actually a female. Though their name is slightly misleading, frontwoman Marissa Paternoster is one of the most kick-ass women currently fronting a punk band and was even named one of Spin’s greatest guitarists of all time. Their fifth and most recent album, 2013’s Ugly, was produced by Steve Albini and got rave reviews from like everyone.
Roadblock
Local supergroup Roadblock includes members of Deluxin’, Bad Friend, Leather Nightmare and Supermelt.
PUJOL, The Screaming Females, and Roadblock will perform Tuesday, October 28 at The Stone Fox. The show is 18+, begins at 9 p.m. (doors at 8:30 p.m.), and tickets are available for $10.
