The Kingston Springs at The High Watt, Sunday Night!

We are big fans of these guys here at No Country, and as the namesake simply implies, these homegrown buckets of joy represent all that I personally love about this town’s independent music. These young lads (literally…like super young) are making waves way beyond their years. Like take Paste Magazine for instance, as they have named them one of the 12 Tennessee Bands that you should listen to now! (See our own write up on this story here.) I will say it once, and say it a million times, talent is talent. Plain and simple!

To me, all who deserve true notoriety are those who make a sound that is reminiscent of something familiar yet completely unlike anyone else, all in the same breath. Dynamic, lyrically delicious, meticulous, unruly, unkempt, and all-around brilliance can sum up the The Kingston Springs. Almost. Mostly because they are the type of band that continue to mold and fold and keep you attached to the hem of their skirt. (pants.)

I saw them for the first time about a year ago when they opened up for Lovedrug at The Basement. I’m a long-time Lovedrug fan so as years of experience have shown me…it’s can be a pain getting through some the openers. Always a daggon pain! However, I was blown away. BLOWN! I purchased their EP on site (I NEVER do that!) and spent a hefty dose of last summer blasting their angsty juiciness. It’s just good. It’s rock and roll, perfect randomness, a dose of dirty south, and a tablespoon of honesty.

Whether live or with their EP, “The Vacation Time,” you will not be disappointed. And if you are then you don’t know anything. Dummy.

They are playing The High Watt this Sunday, June 17 at 9:00pm. Seriously…like seriously, check them out!
