Frank Fairfield Is On The Bill At The Loveless Cafe Tonight In Nashville!

Talk about serendipity… It was a three shows in three different venues kind of night, and I had never even heard of Frank Fairfield when I stumbled into FooBar too early for the Cass McCombs set to end the night back in January.  This was to be the second time I had seen McCombs, and I was eager to be more impressed than the first time.  Of course, that first time he had Lower Dens opening for him.  Sorry Cass, but Lower Dens are one of my favorite bands.  So, on this cold January night, I was sure that it was the night for my true McCombs appreciation to begin.  Alas, sorry Cass, Frank Fairfield came into my life.

Are you kidding me with that mustache?  And those clothes?  I swear this dude just fell out of Bill & Ted’s phone booth from some land where Billy The Kid and Wyatt Earp are still duking it out.  I really kinda thought this was a joke when I first got in the room, but it was just a mesmerizing old-timey blend of unorthodox fiddle, plucky guitar, twangy banjo, and a boot that I thought was going to stomp through the stage.  The audience full of musicians and hipsters were all standing in utter silence taking in the scene.  It was truly something to behold, and I’ve since been keeping my eye out for his return through Nashville.

Tonight is the night as he is at the top of the bill at The Loveless Cafe’s Music City Roots.  Things get started at 7pm, and you can get your $10 tickets here.  If you can’t make it out, you can also tune into the webcast live here.  If you still aren’t sure, just check out the vid of his last Music City Roots performance below.  Wait, WTF?  There is a movie about him?
