It slipped by us amidst all of the pre-Bonnaroo madness, but Nashville synth rockers Wild Cub quietly released a new EP on iTunes, Letters Home from Far Away recently, which features covers, live recordings (“Thunder Clatter,” “Wishing Well”), an an unreleased track (“Shadows”). Of the three covers included, we’d previously heard the group tackle CHVRCHES’ “The Mother We Share” and Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love,” but their killer take on Drake’s “Hold On We’re Going Home” is a new one, and seriously warrants a listen. If you’ve been wearing out the group’s epic debut, Youth (especially if you’ve been spinning it since its 2013 self-release like we have), Letters Home provides a nice little change of pace, while still letting us get our Wild Cub fix. Stream the EP below, and catch the group on the road all summer long, as well as July 17 for a FREE hometown show at Marathon Music Works with Moon Taxi.
