Just like last year and the year before, we’re making it our mission to help you get acquainted with as many bands as we can from Bonnaroo‘s impressive 2014 lineup. In addition to main stage acts, we also want to be sure to give the Club Stage bands some love, so, for the next month or so, we’re adding a second daily spotlight. They might be the smallest artists on Bonnaroo’s bill, but the Club Stage bands are some of the best and most exciting up and coming acts around. As with our main stage previews, we’ll start from the bottom and work our way up. Keep reading for your Bonnaroo Club Stage Band of the Day…

LEARN

We’re still running our final Club Stage band previews by focusing on the Thursday night Communion-curated showcase. Yesterday, we put a spotlight on the stripped down Hey Rosetta! set with Tim Baker and Adam Hogan, and, today, we turn a little closer to home with Nashville transplants Foreign Fields.  Longtime friends Eric Hillman and Brian Holl came together in 2011 in their hometown in wintery Wisconsin to begin experimenting musically together for what would become Foreign Fields.  Just a year later, they released their debut, Anywhere But Where I Am, and decided to head anywhere but where they were.  They relocated to Nashville, and soon garnered significant critical acclaim from the debut.

Sporting only a follow up live cut, Tuscaloosa, aptly titled after a live set in the small Alabama town, rumor around these parts is that Foreign Fields are working on some new material that is soon to be yours.  We’ve spent some time with their electro-infused, thoughtfully composed, and gorgeously arranged folk sounds in the past, and their live sounds are perfect for this post-dinner hang at the Sonic Stage.  If you are from Nashville, head over to support local musicians, and, if you are reading this from lands afar, make it a point to experience just one of the many reasons that Nashville is known as Music City.
