Lots of Decisions tonight in Nashville

Here we go again with another slate of awesome shows tonight in Nashville.  I think I’m going to have to flip a coin for this one.  We have J. Roddy Walston & The Business bringing their high energy, Jerry Lee Lewis-like act to Exit/In.  River City Extension brings their happy folk pop to The End.  SBTRKT brings the bleeps and blurps to Mercy Lounge.  While The Love Language and Hospitality bring their sweet sounds to Mercy’s “back stage”.

I’ve already spent lots of time telling you about the good times of J. Roddy Walston & The Business.  So, I will just link you back to read some of our highlights.  We first found out about River City Extension when we were preparing for Bonnaroo last year.  As for SBTRKT, I’m not a big enough fan of bleeps and blurps to waste the precious few minutes I have a day to work on this blog talking about them, but, if you are a fan of good electronic dance music, then you probably already have your mind made up about tonight.

So, let’s spend a little bit of time talking about The Love Language and Hospitality.  I first found The Love Language with that super catchy track “Lalita” off of their 2009 S/T debut.  Have a listen to it below, and you will see what I mean about catchy.  They released a 2010 sophomore effort which continues that legacy.

The angular, intricate, and intelligent compositions of Hospitality signal a sophisticated new pop voice. Singer Amber Papini’s idiosyncratic songwriting and incisive lyrics coupled with the band’s rich arrangements on their self-titled debut explore youth, New York, and the bittersweet commingling of past and present in a way that feels just right, right now.  Just tell me that these tracks won’t be solidly stuck in your head for the rest of the day.
