VinylThief2014-620

As we told you last month, electro-rockers Vinyl Thief are set to play their first hometown show of the new year (and first in a good while) TONIGHT, April 11, at The High Watt. You should already know ’em by now, but, if you don’t, get familiar with our brand new episode of the No Country For New Nashville Podcast, where Vinyl Thief chat music, get personal, and even premiere a new song, “Compact.” For even more on the guys, watch their recent DCXV live “Shop Session,” and stream their latest EP, Stop Motion. Joining Vinyl Thief tonight are alt/electronic rock outfit INTL and indie rockers Phin. For more about all three acts, keep reading!

VINYL THIEF

They first came onto our radar with their fantastic 2012 debut EP, Rebel Hill, and they haven’t slowed down since. Layering a strong indie rock foundation with tasteful electronics, Vinyl Thief have emerged as one of Nashville’s most promising acts on the rise, and, time and time again, have proven their impressive range, knack for crafting huge, smart hooks, and unbeatable ear for melody. Also one of Music City’s premiere live performers, the band’s local outings have been few and far between lately; don’t miss this unique opportunity to catch them in town! Look for Vinyl Thief’s full-length debut, Fathoms, in the near future.

INTL

Formerly The Young International (or The Young INTL) and now just INTL, the alt/indie/electronic rockers came onto our radar right around the same time as Vinyl Thief (both bands were staples of the East Nashville Underground scene). We’ve drawn Radiohead comparisons in the past and, though they share an affinity for that band’s off-kilter, sample-infused aesthetic, their sound is uniquely their own. It’s also evolving; along with the name change, the group are working on a new full-length album which boasts a whole new sound. Maybe, if we’re lucky, we’ll get a taste of it this evening.

PHIN

Formed just last year, indie rockers Phin have quickly established themselves as an undeniable up and coming artist to watch, nabbing support slots for some of our favorite local acts. Fronted by singer-songwriter Toby Haydel, the sextet’s sound is a pretty straightforward flavor of indie, with a strong pop sensibility. Their debut EP, Those Killers, was one of our favorite releases of last year, and we’re eagerly awaiting what the band have up their sleeves next. Be sure to show up early, or you’ll be sorry!

Vinyl Thief, INTL, and Phin will perform TONIGHT, April 11, at The High Watt. The show is 18+, begins at 9 p.m. (doors at 8 p.m.), and tickets are available for $7.
