In the humpday highlights, Cass McCombs is returning to Nashville tonight to play East Nashville’s FooBar. This traveling folk master was in town at The Basement last summer to play, and he is back tonight in the eclectic confines of FooBar. I am not going to spend too much time telling you why you should go see it because I assume that most folks that know Cass’s music already know why they should get out to see the show tonight. Instead, I’ll show you the “Critic’s Pick” write up from the Cream, and throw up the player that I had for last summer’s show. Please note, that Cass’s well-reviewed song from Pitchfork’s Best of 2011 list is “County Line” not “Country Line” as mentioned in the Cream write up below. You can check out a haunting, not really safe for work video for that song depicting 20 somethings in a serious battle with drugs over at V Magazine. Holy morning depression, Batman. Things get started at 9 p.m. with opener Frank Fairfield, and tickets will surely be affordable for this show at FooBar. Get out and see some live music!
