Yuengling and Lightning 100 team up for another impressive Nashville Sunday Night over at 3rd & Lindsley this week. Matthew Houck (dba Phosphorescent) is bringing his emotively raw songwriting and beautiful composition to Music City, and, throw in The Lonely Wild, for a night of music awesome enough to justify going out on a Sunday. If that’s not enough to make you jump, how about we give you a free pair of tickets to the show!

PHOSPHORESCENT
Phosphorescent may be based in Brooklyn now, but their roots are in the South. Matthew Houck grew up in Alabama before taking on the current Phosphorescent nom de plume as a young artist in Athens, GA in 2001. Phosphorescent didn’t hit my radar until his 2007 release Pride, and it was that songwriting reminiscent of a letter from a lost love that captured my imagination for Phosphorescent. Spilling through the next few releases (including the ode To Willie, Here’s To Taking It Easy, and this year’s incredible release Muchacho), gave us enough liquid courage to ask Houck at SXSW this past March if he purposely gets his girlfriend to dump him before writing a new album. You can’t fake that emotion. In case you care, his response was, “I guess that’s valid.” Check out the touching and beautifully composed “Song For Zula” from Muchacho below.
THE LONELY WILD
If I hear any more people tell me how blown away they are after seeing The Lonely Wild live, I just might… well, I would probably just continue to agree with them. I’ve seen a lot of great bands and a lot of young bands, but it is rare that you get a band this young and this talented. I would be willing to bet a crazy sum of money that, barring any band drama, you’ll see The Lonely Wild headlining a Nashville Sunday Night if not a considerably larger venue around these parts in the very near future. You can check out “Buried In The Murder” below to understand that this isn’t just pandering, but seriously spoken truths. The Lonely Wild are the real deal.
