Bonnaroo Artist | Abby Holliday
Bonnaroo History | Newbie
Stage & Time | Friday | Who Stage | 2:15-3:00pm
Like we’ve been doing for many years now, we’re making it our mission to help you get acquainted with many of our favorite acts from Bonnaroo‘s 2024 lineup. After roaring back to life in 2022, after two years off due to Covid and weather, and feeling fully like its old self again with a great fest last summer, this year marks Bonnaroo’s 21st installment (and 23rd anniversary), boasting not only another great and varied lineup, but also a continuation of some of the big changes and improvements rolled out over the last couple of years, with more flexibility in ticketing and camping, a reimagined “Outeroo” campground area, new activations, and further new ways to Roo. Back once again in its usual June 13-16 timeframe, we’re counting down the days until another great weekend on the farm.
As we dig through the entire schedule, we’ll highlight a spread of performers spanning across genres and stages, big and small, new and old, to bring you some of the most interesting, lesser-known, and most highly-recommended among this year’s crop of artists. And as our time at ‘Roo approaches, we’ll also be bringing you some special features and full list-style daily lineup guides, to help you plan your weekend ahead of the fest. While these previews won’t span every artist, and might omit some more obvious must-see acts, we hope they’ll serve as a way to help you navigate Bonnaroo’s gargantuan lineup, and to make the most of your busy weekend at the fest!

LEARN
Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio but now based in Nashville, indie pop singer-songwriter Abby Holliday is quickly becoming one of Music City’s most impressive rising artists. A lifelong songwriter, Abby initially focused primarily on guitar, but began to sing as well in her early college years, encouraged by a friend to record her introspective, lush, and story-driven compositions. Though she only formally began releasing music a few years ago, Holliday’s output has been very generous, debuting with 2021 record WHEN WE’RE APART I FALL APART, channeling other buzzworthy, resonant indie artists like Phoebe Bridgers and The Japanese House. Across a series of subsequent singles and eventually here sophomore record, I’M OK NO I’M NOT, last year, Abby continued to hone her musical ethos, retaining the confessional, resonant, and sharp lyrical stylings of her debut, but exploring more bold production, electronic flourish, vocal effects, and bombastic and unorthodox and layered arrangements, all setting her apart from her indie pop peers. Propelled by songs like “Ohio Laundry Room” and “Better By Now,” Abby has quickly found and passionate and ever-growing fanbase, and landed on playlists like our own, while also performing regularly in Nashville and across the nation, sharing the stage with artists like James Bay, Michigander, Phillip Phillips, The Wldlfe, and more, also set to debut at Lollapalooza this summer following Bonnaroo. Holliday’s creative output hasn’t slowed either, despite her rise in recognition and more frequent touring, as she’s released further great new tracks in recent months like “Slack Jaw,” “Immortal,” “Sleeping Sculpture,” and “The Price,” and appeared on a duet with Jon Foreman (of Switchfoot fame). Bonnaroo’s Who Stage has historically been a great spot to catch local talent on the precipice of greater fame, and Abby Holliday is an artist who we’ve had our eye on for years, whose incredible, earnest songwriting style and mesmerizing production seems destined to make her one of the alt/indie pop scene’s next breakouts. Don’t miss a chance to see her on a more intimate stage!
