LA nostaglic psych rockers Allah-Las met while working at iconic Los Angeles record store Amoeba Music in the 2000s- a pretty hip origin story- and formally began making music and performing around Southern California in 2008. It was a few years later though, with their eponymous debut LP in 2012, that Allah-Las found wider acclaim, attracting praise from critics and fast becoming a beloved fixture of the thriving rock scene of the 2010s, praised for their retro, wistful, hook-laden, and very west coast flavor of psych and garage rock and surf pop. Remaining prolific and building on their musical template with further sonic experimentation, the band made several more great albums last decade- 2014’s Worship the Sun, 2016’s Calico Review, and 2019’s LAHS– before, like a lot of bands, taking a bit of a break throughout the pandemic, using the time to regroup creatively. After which, with much anticipation, the rockers returned last year with fifth album Zuma 85, their most distinct and bold work to date, exploring influences of avant-pop and classic musical movements from around the globe.

Out in support of their latest, Allah-Las will return to Music City on April 12 to headline Eastside Bowl with Maston (the artist project of composer, label mate, and fellow Angeleno Frank Maston), making their first time in town in more than four years- their longest gap between Nashville shows here in a decade. Their vibey, layered sound really is best experienced live, and you can still get tickets to the show right here! However, we’re excited to announce that we’re also giving away a pair of tickets to one lucky fan- preview both performers and enter below.
