Wolfmother took Eastside Bowl by storm at their recent headlining performance, their first Nashville outing in seven years, and only third since their breakout 2006 debut album. After a long awaited return, the Australian rockers gave their all to diehard fans in Nashville. They played old favorites and new songs that ignited an enthusiastic audience in a packed room in the same way.

With his unique high pitched singing voice, lead vocalist and guitarist Andrew Stockdale even performed a classic, ā€œRock and Rollā€ by Led Zeppelin to finish the night. At one point during the show, he told a story about a young girl knocking on the band’s tour bus at the previous city who had asked, ā€œaren’t you the guy who can sing like Greta Van Fleet?ā€ Stockdale had just shaken his head with a ā€œyes, that’s me,ā€ The crowd ate it up.Ā

Coming onto the scene in the early 2000s, Wolfmother have seen a lot of success in the mainstream rock world. From their breakout single, ā€œMind’s Eyeā€ off their debut self-titled album to their latest single release, ā€œStay A Little Longer,ā€ the experimental bluesy hard rockers don’t see an end to the fun just yet. The three-piece ripped through the evening at high velocity, Stockdale’s curly locks prominent onstage along with his signature cherry Gibson SG.

Fever Dog, a KISS meets Bowie meets T. Rex glam rock band from California started the evening off with their killer set, each member clad in matching white jumpsuits. They had it all: the hair, onstage antics, and viciously cool instruments came together to equal a group that definitely has it figured out, and set the tone right for Wolfmother’s killer performance to follow.

It’s really impressive when a band that has been playing for close to two decades is still able to display the same amount of passion as they did from the beginning. Although the lineup has changed over the years, Andrew Stockdale has kept the spirit of Wolfmother alive, which continues to never disappoint. I can’t wait to see where they’re headed next, and hope to see them back in Nashville soon!
