Formed in the late ’80s in the Bay Area of California while still just teens, seminal punk and pop punk trio Green Day exploded into the cultural zeitgeist with their 1994 third album and major label debut, Dookie. Helping usher in and then subsequently influence a new wave of mainstream interest in punk rock, Green Day became one of the most beloved and successful rock acts of the ’90s, touring the world, selling millions of albums, appearing at major fests, dominating radio and MTV airplay, and winning major awards. Ten years and four albums after their now-classic Dookie, just as it seemed that the pop punk baton might be handed off to a new wave of popular bands of the ’00s like Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance, Green Day proved as relevant, enduring, and more popular than ever with 2004’s fiery, politically-charged, ambitious punk rock opera American Idiot, an album which again skyrocketed them to cultural ubiquity, earned the band renewed commercial and critical milestones, cemented their status as one of punk’s greatest acts of all time, and even was later adapted into a Tony winning Broadway musical.

In the 20 years since (yes, fellow emo kid millennials, 2004 was nearly twenty years ago) Green Day have remained massively popular, continuing to tour, headline festivals, and release new music- albeit at a less prolific clip, and to slightly more mixcd reception from critics and fans. Following their last effort, 2020’s Father of All Motherfuckers, the band have announced that their 14th LP will be called Saviors, and is set to arrive Jan. 19 via Reprise Records, re-teaming them with producer Rob Cavallo, who previously helmed some of the band’s best work, such as the aforementioned classics Dookie and American Idiot. In support of that album, as well as in celebration of Dookie’s 30th anniversary and American Idiot‘s 20th, Green Day have also announced an extensive 2024 world tour, set to kick off with summer run in North America, which returns the trio to Nashville for the first time in 15 years to headline Geodis Park on Aug. 30, with an incredibly stacked lineup of alt rock legends The Smashing Pumpkins, fellow famed punk rockers Rancid, and young up and coming power pop and punk outfit The Linda Lindas!

Sure to be one of the hottest events of next summer, tickets to The Saviors Tour go on sale this Friday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. CST right here. Additional pre-sales will run throughout the week, with Citi Cardmembers getting first chance at tickets and VIP packages Tuesday, Nov. 7, with mailing list subscribers (sign up here) beginning Wednesday, Nov. 8, and various other pre-sales through Live Nation, Spotify, Ticketmaster, and more throughout the week.
