Carley Rae Jepsen Meets Trent Reznor | Thank You, Internet!

Song mashups on the internet are a dime a dozen. With the advent of the current EDM craze, and artists like Girl Talk who exclusively work in what could be considered mashups, simply shoving two songs together online, or proving how similar every pop song on the radio sounds, isn’t all that impressive anymore. But, every once in awhile, something so bizarre, so brilliant and terrible at the same time, comes along and you just can’t help but give it props. Did you ever wonder what Trent Reznor would sound like singing over a Carly Rae Jepsen song? No, of course not. But some wise soul known as Pomdeter did, and, for that, I salute him. Behold, the ingenius frankensong, “Call Me A Hole.” Thank you, internet!

This is quite appropriately timed, as Nine Inch Nails just announced plans to reunite and tour in 2013. A Lollapalooza announcement is expected to follow. For now, enjoy the angsty vocals of “Head Like a Hole” juxtaposed with the infectiously poppy hook of “Call Me Maybe.” Don’t question why it works so well, just let it happen.
