Don’t Miss Bikini Kill w/ Hurry Up | TONIGHT @ Marathon Music Works!

Pioneers of the riot grrrl movement and one of the most important acts of the Pacific Northwest punk scene of the ’90s, for the 22 years they were split the legendary Bikini Kill not only became even more influential and beloved, but frequently topped persistent punk reunion wish lists. Members have gone on to found other great projects (The Julie Ruin, Le Tigre, The Old Haunts, and more), but Bikini Kill will always be one of the most important and iconic, a leading voice for feminism in punk whose attitude still rings just as pertinent and timely today.

After initially announcing a couple of coastal reunion shows and a headlining spot at Riot Fest back in 2019, we hoped a full-on reunion tour might come to fruition, and mere weeks before Covid became a national concern, the band finally plotted a proper tour, which included a would-be Nashville show in the fall of 2020. Rescheduled to last year, the group’s Nashville date was once-again postponed due to Covid within the touring camp, but tonight, March 30, Bikini Kill will finally take the Marathon Music Works stage two and a half years later than planned, with fellow PNW outfit Hurry Up tapped to support!

A reunion that, for many years following their 1997 split (after a prolific seven-year initial run), seemed increasingly unlikely to ever take place, much less with the longevity to reach Nashville, this show is, without a doubt, one of our single most-anticipated events of the year, especially since it marks Bikini Kill’s first time in Music City since at show at Lucy’s Record Shop all the way back in 1994. And, astonishingly, some tickets are still available right here! If you’re a fan of punk rock, especially feminist punk, we implore you to check out one of the most important acts in musical history tonight.
