By the time his formal debut LP, Everything is Fine, arrived in 2018, Danny Kiranos, better known by his musical alias Amigo the Devil, had already amassed a cult following, thanks to years of honing his lauded and raw live show and his folky, country, rock and metal infused, dark and macabre themed, confessional sound across a string of early EPs (collected as Volume 1 earlier that same year). Hailing originally from Miami, though he moved to California as a teen and bounced between multiple cities around the globe, before settling down in Austin to focus on his musical career, the unique songwriter started out performing alone with just an acoustic guitar or banjo, but fleshed out his sound with last 2021 sophomore record Born Against, adding a full band and electric instruments to his fill out his live show as well. Met with critical acclaim, Kiranos has been playing increasingly larger shows and appearing at fests like Muddy Roots, Riot Fests, Louder Than Life, and Aftershock in recent years, and released his most adventurous, expansive, earnest, and singular effort yet, Yours Until the War is Over, earlier this year. Self-produced and recorded at a former bar turned studio, the latest LP is classic Amigo the Devil; biting, dark, confessional, and thematically rich, once again filled out with more layered instrumentation and exploring a diverse sonic canvas.
Though he played Nashville a lot between Everything Is Fine and Born Against, it’s been nearly two years since Amigo the Devil last headlined Music City. Thankfully, in support of his latest, the eclectic artist will return Dec. 8, once again headlining Eastside Bowl with Portland self-proclaimed “psychedelic doom boogie” group TK & The Holy Know-Nothings and local Americana rocker PJ and the Bear, both a great compliment to Amigo’s sound. Tickets are still available right here while they last, but we’re excited to announce that we’re also giving away a pair of tickets to one lucky fan! Preview the lineup and enter below.
