Just last week, resident local rocker and Third Man head honcho Jack White quietly dropped a surprise new album, currently untitled (stamped as “NO NAME”) and released only as a physical, one-day-only vinyl that was included with all purchases at his Third Man Records storefront. His first new LP since dropping a pair of records in 2022, Fear of the Dawn and Entering Heaven Alive, the album is more akin to the blues and garage rock sound of the former, and has received high praise from the handful of folks lucky enough to hear it. What’s next for the venerated rocker (and whether his latest LP will eventually get a wider release) is not entirely known, but his live activity seems to be ramping up for the first time in more than a year, with a string of small regional shows and a west coast festival date just announced.
The most welcome announcement of all though, is a surprise, pop up performance this Saturday, July 27 at Inglewood’s American Legion Post 82, revealed as a benefit to help the venue raise funds for a new sound system. Best known for its popular country and western Honky Tonk Tuesday Nights event since 2015 (which, just a few days ago, announced a bittersweet permanent move to Eastside Bowl beginning in August), the Legion is an intimate, scrappy, neighborhood dive which has played host to many legendary performers over the years, and will undoubtedly be one of the smallest spots White and his band have ever performed in Nashville. In order for a chance to buy tickets, you’ll need to sign up at this link ASAP, in order to receive a code before they go on sale this Friday, July 26 at 10 a.m. CDT. No word on prices yet (remember, it’s a benefit), but we expect interest in such a special event to be extremely high. Doors are at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, with White set to take the stage at 7, giving you plenty of time to catch his friends and labelmates Be Your Own Pet afterwards at Eastside Bowl.
