Bonnaroo History | Newbie
Stage & Time | Thursday | That Tent | 2:30-3:15pm
Like we’ve been doing for many years now, we’re making it our mission to help you get acquainted with many of our favorite acts from Bonnaroo‘s 2024 lineup. After roaring back to life in 2022, after two years off due to Covid and weather, and feeling fully like its old self again with a great fest last summer, this year marks Bonnaroo’s 21st installment (and 23rd anniversary), boasting not only another great and varied lineup, but also a continuation of some of the big changes and improvements rolled out over the last couple of years, with more flexibility in ticketing and camping, a reimagined “Outeroo” campground area, new activations, and further new ways to Roo. Back once again in its usual June 13-16 timeframe, we’re counting down the days until another great weekend on the farm.
As we dig through the entire schedule, we’ll highlight a spread of performers spanning across genres and stages, big and small, new and old, to bring you some of the most interesting, lesser-known, and most highly-recommended among this year’s crop of artists. And as our time at ‘Roo approaches, we’ll also be bringing you some special features and full list-style daily lineup guides, to help you plan your weekend ahead of the fest. While these previews won’t span every artist, and might omit some more obvious must-see acts, we hope they’ll serve as a way to help you navigate Bonnaroo’s gargantuan lineup, and to make the most of your busy weekend at the fest!
Grab your tickets right here if you haven’t already, and read on for our Bonnaroo Artist Spotlight!
LEARN
Though, as his musical alias would imply, Michigander does hail originally from Michigan, the resonant indie rocker, born Jason Singer, has called Nashville home for a number of years now. First emerging onto the scene in 2014, and making a formal debut with 2016 track “Nineties,” the singer-songwriter has garnered critical acclaim and amassed an organic, passionate fanbase, perfecting his sound which fuses a polished, emo-adjacent, pop accessible, lush style of indie rock and confessional, relatable, lyrical knack, all with an anthemic, heartland rock flair. 2021 EP Everything Will Be Ok Eventually helped Michigander break through to a larger audience, earning radio hits and online buzz, and his latest, last year’s It Will Never Be the Same proves a worthy followup and career-best, showcasing the style he’s expertly honed over the years, and even featuring a collaboration with beloved Atlanta outfit Manchester Orchestra, “In My Head,” and a co-write with Dashboard Confessional’s Chris Carrabba, “Cannonball.” As he’s grown in recognition over the past few years, Jason and his band have shared the stage with artists like Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, Manchester Orchestra, Band of Horses, and The Head and the Heart, and have already appeared at a slew of fests like Lollapalooza, Summerfest, Shaky Knees, Austin City Limits, and SXSW, but of course Bonnaroo is a goal for every Nashville-based performer, and Michigander’s eclectic and earnest sound should be a perfect fit for the farm, especially as he has new music on the way this year. We also image he’s a likely candidate for this year’s Dashboard Confessional-led Emo SuperJam!
