Though the duo that make up indie pop outfit Tommy Lefroy, Wynter Bethel and Tessa Mouzourakis, initially hail from Michigan and Vancouver, respectively, and currently call London home, it was actually right here in Nashville that they first met, bonding over a shared love of groups like boygenius while both working independently as songwriters. It was during the pandemic, while at the time based in Los Angeles and London, that the pair began to seriously make music together as Tommy Lefroy (named for the supposed real-life inspiration for Mr. Darcy in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice), self-producing their 2021 debut EP, Flight Risk, while in lockdown, and gaining an initial following thanks to TikTok. In the couple of years since, they’ve only grown in popularity as they’ve toured Europe and North America, continuing to perfect their self-reflective, confessional, harmonic, folk-tinged, poppy indie rock sound across a string of singles and a recent sophomore EP, Rivals.
After returning to their one-time home of Nashville earlier this year in support of Samia, Tommy Lefroy will play their first Music City headliner as a duo tonight, Oct. 5 at Exit/In, along with Canadian alt/indie singer-songwriter Haley Blais, whose earnest, pop-accessible style is a perfect match, and Nashville’s own wilby, the indie rock project of singer-songwriter Maria Crawford. You can still get tickets right here while they last, and preview this fantastic lineup below!
Tommy Lefroy, Haley Blais, and wilby will perform tonight, Oct. 5 at Exit/In. The show is all ages, begins at 7:30 p.m. (doors at 6:30 p.m.), and tickets are available for $27.75.
