Ohio born Randy Findell- better known as his musical alias brakence– first began uploading music to SoundCloud in 2016, when he was just 15 years old, forging, across a series of early singles and EPs, a contemporary and internet-born sound that combines elements of maximalist hyperpop, ambient and lush electropop, hip hop, alt-R&B, and the earnest and confessional and jangly emo and emo pop that flourished in his native midwest many years ago. Debut album Punk2, in 2020, would prove to be brakence’s breakthrough, thanks to buzzy tracks like “dropout” (inspired by his decision to drop out of college to pursue music), gaining the young artist an influx of streams and playlist spots, and earning him a major label deal with Columbia Records. With sophomore album Hypochondriac, which arrived last year, brakence crafted his best work yet, maturing his sound, honing his pop appeal, and refining his production and stylistic reach, while retaining the confessional, deeply personal writing style that helped attract a passionate following.
Still riding a wave of buzz for Hypochondriac, brakence has announced a new leg of fall dates dubbed The Hypochondriac (Is Still On) Tour, bringing him to Nashville for the first time ever, to headline Eastside Bowl on Nov. 6! Tickets are on sale now right here, but we’re excited to announce that we’re also giving away a pair of tickets to one lucky fan. Check out brakence’s music and social links, and enter to win below.
