It’s been less than four years since beloved, eclectic singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey last played Nashville, in late 2019 at Municipal Auditorium in support of that year’s lauded sixth album Norman Fucking Rockwell!! Incredibly, in the time since, she’s released three additional albums- a pair of folk and Americana inspired LPs, Chemtrails over the Country Club and Blue Banisters– in 2021, and recent ninth full-length, Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. Since instantly becoming an indie darling amidst the hipster boom of the early 2010s, thanks to 2012 major label debut Born to Die, Lana has become something of a modern cult icon, renowned for her affinity for and iconography inspired by classic cultural Americana, penchant for wistful musical experimentation, and poetic and melancholy lyrical approach. Thanks to TikTok (and likely bolstered by a recent collaboration with Taylor Swift), the singer seems to be attracting a fervent new younger following, and her latest run of albums have been some of the best-received since her early work.
Though she’s been touring and playing festivals intermittently, Nashville has been absent Del Rey’s post-pandemic itinerary, so we’re delighted to see that she’s planning to kick off a few weeks of dates at the start of fall with a pair of shows at Franklin’s FirstBank Amphitheater on Sept. 14 and 15! Usually big shows like this announce many months in advance, but these are mere weeks away, meaning our anticipation won’t even have a chance to fade before the dates arrive. Tickets go on sale this Friday, Aug. 25 at 10 a.m. right here (9/14) and here (9/15). There are no apparent pre-sales for these shows, so even with two nights, demand is sure to be high; good luck!
