Springing on the scene in 2017, and transcending both language barriers and genre lines, Belarusian post-punk trio Molchat Doma have swiftly cultivated a following over the last few years, harboring a moody, retro sound that recalls 1980s Russian rock as well as new wave and synth-pop (and is sometimes tagged “cold wave”). After a prolific early tear which included three LPs and an EP between 2017 and 2020, the band gained a worldwide following and inked a deal with American label Sacred Bones, who reissued their records and helped introduce the Russian-language band to a wider Western audience (if nothing else, you might be familiar with their hypotonic single “Судно,” or “Sudno,” which had a viral moment on TikTok).
Molchat Doma made their Nashville debut last year for a sold out performance at Exit/In, and they return once more, this time to larger space Eastside Bowl, on April 20, along with likeminded post-punk outfit Nuovo Testamento. A must-see for fans of nostalgic, gothic, European, ’80s inspired post-punk and synth-wave, you can still get tickets right here while they last. We’re also excited to announce that we’re giving away a pair of tickets to a one lucky winner, so scroll for a preview of the lineup, and enter below!
