No strangers to Nashville, and always a favorite to catch in concert, buzzy, lush indie rock outfit From Indian Lakes have released some of our absolute favorite records of recent years, and their latest, brand new LP Dimly Lit is no exception. Out in celebration, the Joey Vannucchi-led group are set to return to Music City for a headlining performance Nov. 21 at The High Watt, with support from another site fave, indie pop rockers Queen of Jeans, and vibey indie pop newcomer Yummm. A great bill for fans of earnest, layered, cool, and pop accessible indie and post-rock, tickets are available right here while they last! Or, if you’d rather leave it to chance, we’re excited to announce that we’re also giving away a pair of tickets to one lucky fan! Read on for more about the show, and enter for a chance to win below.

FROM INDIAN LAKES

Born a decade ago as a creative outlet for frontman, writer, producer, and sole recorded multi-instrumentalist Joey Vannucchi, From Indian Lakes was named for the small California town near Yosemite National Park where Joey grew up, largely isolated on 40 acres of land, and without electricity or common amenities, prompting him to spend his childhood honing his musical skill, reading, and pursuing creative endeavors. After positive reception to early demos, From Indian Lakes self-released their debut LP, The Man with Wooden Legs, in 2009, around which time Vannucchi assembled a live band made of up friends who’ve largely remained a fixture of the group since. With a lush, dreamy, layered, shoegaze-y, pop accessible, indie sound, which has varied greatly from one album to the next, From Indian Lakes gained even more attention and high-profile critical praise with their independently released sophomore effort, Able Bodies, in 2012, earning them a deal with Triple Crown Records. By 2014’s beloved wider breakthrough Absent Sounds, FIL were becoming one of the buzziest indie bands around, adored by a wide range of critics, and touring bigger spaces and in support of larger acts. 2016 fourth album, Everything Feels Better Now, recorded entirely using analog techniques, was met again with widespread praise from fans and critics, landing on countless best of lists, and leaving us early anticipating a followup, which finally arrived just last month in the form of new LP Dimly Lit. Yet another earnest, refined, dreamy, pop accessible, and resonant work, very possibly FIL’s best to date, the group’s latest effort is reason enough to make their Nashville return a must-see, and in an intimate space like The High Watt, it’s sure to be an unforgettable outing.

QUEEN OF JEANS

Regular tourmates of From Indian Lakes, Philly’s Queen of Jeans play a sort of breezy, indie pop that has somehow fallen into favor with fans of the emo and punk crowd, landing them tours in recent years with the likes of Balance and Composure and Citizen. With roots in the harmony-laden girl groups of the ’60s, fused with ’90s indie and alt rock, and modern indie pop, the band released a promising self-titled debut EP in 2016, and followed it up last year with stellar first full-length effort, Dig Yourself. This year’s latest, If You’re Not Afraid, I’m Not Afraid, is, without a doubt, the trio’s strongest record yet, landing as easily one of 2019’s absolute best indie efforts, and further cementing Queen of a Jeans as a band you seriously need to keep an eye on. FIL fans have very possibly seen them in action already, but if they’ve flown under your radar thus far, make sure to catch their supporting set!

YUMMM

We can’t seem to find a whole lot of info on opening act Yummm, but the apparent Minneapolis based, one man endeavor seems to be relatively new to the scene, having released the bulk of his singles just this year. Channeling a dreamy, lush, low-key, harmonic indie pop sound, Yummm will without a doubt be a favorite of fans of the rest of the bill, and we’re always first to encourage you to show up early to support the openers- you might just discover your new favorite artist!
