Set to take place today, June 8 across the complex of 919 Gallatin Ave, Under the Sun Fest is an exciting, neighborhood-focused block party, celebrating East Nashville’s thriving creative community of musicians, artists, poets, makers, and more, curated by nearby small businesses and residents for an all ages, free day of music, art, poetry, local food and venders, and more!
The music lineup alone was enough to catch our attention, with Skyway Man, Hari the Band, Nightingail, Josh Rennie-Hynes, The BraziLionaires, Leah Blevins, and Sad Penny all slated to perform! You’ll also find local food vendors, coffee, cocktails and beer, a vintage clothing marketplace and other wares, live painting, gallery shows, comedy, and more around the site and shops, plus poetry at Red Arrow Gallery from Lagnajita Mukhopadhyay, Maggie Wells, Ashley Roth, Richard Harper, Olatunde Osinaike, Meg Wade, Chris Ketchum, and Anna Gordon, and an after party from 10 p.m. to midnight at Tournament.
Needless to say, this is the kind of free, fun, richly curated, and community-centric East Nashville event we love to see, and something that feels more of a rarity these days than just a few years ago, so head over this afternoon (music begins at 2:30 p.m., and gates open at noon), and celebrate some of the best creatives the neighborhood has to offer! Preview all the music below, and find out more details here.
