Celebrating the recent release of his ambitious, critically-acclaimed third album Boarding House Reach, resident rocker and Third Man head honcho Jack White returned to Saturday Night Live last night for his first appearance as musical guest since 2012, to perform new tracks “Over and Over and Over” and “Connected By Love.”
With an excellent new band and the addition of backing singers, White’s performance was predictably awesome, and the dichotomy of the two songs felt like a great primer for Jack’s eclectic, genre-bending new effort, which he recently showcased with a pair of special, last-minute local shows at Third Man (we assume a bigger Nashville date will be announce in the near future).
Additionally, the longtime comedy fan was slated to make an appearance in one the evening’s sketches, where he portrayed a wedding band guitarist during a toast gone awry, though the bit was unfortunately cut for time. You can watch both songs and a (presumably dress rehearsal) version of that sketch below, and keep an eye out for more from Jack White as his Boarding House Reach cycle continues to amp up!
