Tickets for the show are still available here, and you can head below to read why this is one show that you definitely don’t want to miss.
OKEY DOKEY
We’ve been following the rapid rise for local psych pop outfit Okey Dokey since their earliest releases in the beginning of 2016. Formed by visual artist Aaron Martin and guitarist Jonny Fisher (The Weeks), the band began fleshing out their unique and entrancing sound with the help of friends from other projects, including The Weeks, Sol Cat, Diane Coffee, Wild Child, and Desert Noises. They’ve come a long way since we hosted them at our No Country Presents showcase at Acme Feed & Seed that spring, and, following the release of their stellar debut album, Love You, Mean It, have gone on to tour with bigger and bigger acts and landed spots at a number of regional and national festivals. They are gearing up for another tour to wrap 2017, but will be kicking that tour off with a hometown show. There’s buzz of new music coming out of this project in the near future, so here’s to hoping that we’ll get some new tracks out of them at the show, but, in the meantime, you can dig into the hot single “Wavy Gravy” from their debut.
THE LONELY BISCUITS
Grady Wenrich, Sam Gidley, and Nick Byrd formed The Lonely Biscuits while attending Belmont, and then got shot out of a publicity cannon when they won MTVu’s College Artist of the Year in 2013. They’ve followed this up with performances at some of the biggest festivals in the country, including Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Hangout, Austin City Limits, and more. They’ve since released two EPs, most recently this year’s The San Francisco EP, which has seen them touring even more in support. It’s a somewhat rare hometown show for the Biscuits, so don’t miss the chance to catch them at this intimate show.
IAN FERGUSON
We’ve been following Ian Ferguson since before he even took off with his solo project. Ian began his musical career as part of the now-defunct and beloved local rock outfit The Kingston Springs, and took some of the experience he garnered with the Springs to create the unique sound of his solo project. You’ll understand the raw, bluesy, rock vibe, but will really feel the unique garage-y, psych edge that he brings to the songs. We’re still waiting for a debut release from Ian, but in the meantime, we’re still digging the smattering of singles he has released, including “State Of Gold,” from last year’s American Diamonds compilation from Ron Gallo last year.
SWARMING BRANCH
Columbus, Ohio based rockers Swarming Branch are an interesting, yet perfect, addition to this eclectic bill. They perform a jazz-influenced, laid back style of rock that teeters somewhere between Steely Dan and glam-rock. Think The Lemon Twigs or Foxygen to get an idea of what that could be like, or just listen to their latest single “Diamonds In The Distance” to find out why you should get there at doors to catch this groovy opener.
Okey Dokey, The Lonely Biscuits, Ian Ferguson, and Swarming Branch will perform tonight, Nov. 30 at The Basement East. The show is 18+, begins at 7:30 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.), and tickets are available to purchase for $10.
