The local music community suffered a huge loss last weekend when Fond Object’s co-founder and co-owner Jeff Pettit passed away suddenly. A friend to many and a fixture in the local scene, seminal in helping make Riverside Village the lively current neighborhood it is, we’re still reeling from Jeff’s passing, and our thoughts are with his family, co-workers, and everyone who knew him. In honor of Jeff, who some fondly referred to as “El Jefe,” Fond Object has announced memorial this afternoon, Aug. 29 in the Riverside location’s backyard.
Featuring performances from Boo Dudes, Joe Fletcher, John McCAuley, El Jefe!, Mystery Twins, Remones, Black Venus, Robyn Hitchcock & Emma Swift, Ron Gallo (with Nikki Barber), Kings of the F’ing Sea, Country Westerns, Machete, and Tristen, the fitting chance to say goodbye will be complete with food, booze from Yazoo and Tito’s, and “a lotta love,” and donations will be collected for the Jeff Pettit Memorial Fund, which, in addition to helping take care of Pettit’s family and their needs, will go towards ensuring the longevity of Jeff’s passion and local legacy, Fond Object, which recently opened a second location downtown.
Things get going at 4 p.m., and you can find out more right here.
