We’ve had our eye on local pop songstress Whissell since the release of her debut single “Get Free,” and, after a buzzy year, including a slew of television placements for the track, the rising singer just unleashed her debut EP, Old Souls, Young Bodies, on Jan. 27. The six song effort sees the talented artist, real name Lauren Whistle, lend her smoky vocals to catchy as hell pop tracks, and the songwriting partnership with her and Nate Company (Carly Rae Jepsen, Tove Lo) and Dan Nigro (Sky Ferreira, Twin Shadow) pushes the envelope in creating a truly unique sound in a sometimes crowded genre.
You can celebrate with Whissell’s new record tonight, Jan. 30 at The High Watt for the official release party, which we would highly recommend after seeing her absolutely command the stage at our No Country Presents showcase at Acme Feed & Seed. Tickets for the event are $10, and the bill also includes like-minded artists Fleurie and FJØRA. Head below for a stream half of Old Souls, Young Bodies (you can find the rest on your streaming platform of choice) to get you prepped to sing along.
