If you asked us, Maynard James Keenan really likes Nashville. The famed rocker shined with Tool at Bridgestone in early 2016, returned with Puscifer at TPAC later in the year, and then entertained an intimate audience at City Winery in support of his memoir A Perfect Union Of Contrary Things as the year came to an end. He’s starting 2017 off right, finally resurrecting beloved supergroup A Perfect Circle for a spring tour, which includes a date at Bridgestone Arena on May 3, their first Music City outing since 2001.
Formed in 1999 by guitarist Billy Howerdel and Keenan, who have remained the core of the supergroup of rotating standout players, the latest touring members including bassist Matt McJunkins and drummer Jeff Friedl (Puscifer, Ashes Divide), and ex-Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha. The latest tour is the band’s first since 2011, as they are still riding high on the success of their three records from the early 2000s. Unfortunately, the tour announcement doesn’t mention a new record, but comments made over the last few years seem to indicate that a long-awaited followup to 2004’s Emotive, is, in fact, in the works.
Tickets for the Nashville date go on-sale Friday Jan. 13 at 10 a.m. CST right here, and you can see the rest of the tour dates below.
