Singer-songwriter Lera Lynn creates moody and riveting songs that capture those parts of love that aren’t so fairytale-like. In support of her new album Resistor, the Nashville transplant will headline a set at The Basement East on Oct. 8, along with local instrumental duo Steelism and indie folk singer William Wild. You can still snag tickets here, but we’re also giving you the chance to win a pair of tickets on us! Read on for more info on the show enter below!
LERA LYNN
Texas born, Georgia raised and current Nashville resident Lera Lynn first gained national attention for her haunting songs featured on True Detective. Along with acclaimed producer T Bone Burnett, Lynn recorded a series of tracks featured on the series’ soundtrack. She even made an appearance on the show as an enchanting performer inside a bar. Although True Detective helped her step in the spotlight, she’s been creating her own unique sound for years.
Lynn just released her third career album, Resistor, which was partially written during her time working on True Detective. The melancholy and atmospheric record explores love and life at its best as well as its worst. Although she’s moved farther away from her Americana-inspired roots, Lera’s music is still centered in great and original storytelling. If you’re in the mood for a performance that will have you enchanted and awestruck with every singular sentence, head over to The Basement East next week.
STEELISM
There are few duos in town as recognizable and beloved as Steelism. The band, composed of Jeremy Fetzer and Spencer Cullum Jr., feature a stylish blend of many genres. Pedal steel, rolling electric guitar, and plucky beats bring listeners through an instrumental journey that’s hard to beat. If you haven’t seen these two jam out on the live stage just yet, you better seize this opportunity. Although their music lacks in vocals, it features plenty of fun, funky and infectious sounds that will get your body moving.
WILLIAM WILD
Garrett Sale, better known as William Wild, provides haunting and insightful indie folk songs that truly pack a punch. The Knoxville native released a new EP, Steady Now, earlier this year to rave reviews. The unforgettable track “When I’ve Been Gone” describes life through the eyes of his homeless father who battled addiction. Even with just his voice and a guitar, its hard to describe the emotional impact that his performance radiates. Get there early and make sure you experience it firsthand.
