Local indie rockers and longtime friends of the site *repeat repeat are teaming up with rising Oklahoma based rockers, BRONCHO for a co-headlining bill tonight at The High Watt. Dream pop outfit Winter is set to open this not to miss mid week show. Things gets started at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.), and you can grab advance tickets for $10 ($12 at the door). Head below to read a bit more about the bands, and we’ll see you tonight.
BRONCHO
Formed in Oklahoma in 2010, BRONCHO first entered the world with their stellar 2011 debut, Can’t Get Past The Lips, but really found buzz from their 2014 sophomore release, Just Enough Hip To Be Woman. The track “Class Historian” from that release became a summer ear worm, finding its way into numerous TV placements and high profile playlists. Riding that buzz, the band found themselves on a world tour, and then high profile opening spots at massive arenas touring with folks like Cage The Elephant. Their most recent release, Double Vanity, sees the band further exploring the depth of their sound with extensive use of reverbed harmonies and a more subdued take on their catchy indie rock. The future looks bright for BRONCHO, and you should make it a point to catch them at a small club while you still can.
*repeat repeat
Admittedly we’re biased on this one, as we’ve been fans of *repeat repeat since before they were even a band. The passion project of East Nashville Underground founders Jared and Kristyn Corder along with drummer Andy Herrin began in 2012, and turned heads immediately with their early singles and debut LP Bad Latitude in 2014. Their effortlessly catchy sun kissed pop tracks pushed that LP into our top albums on the year in 2014, and they carry that energy onto the stage with their effervescent live show. Based on the early singles that have released from their upcoming sophomore LP, Floral Canyon, it appears that the band is on the appropriate trajectory, and that is further evidenced by the fact that they are quickly graduating from local scene fixtures to a rising national touring act. *repeat repeat shows aren’t all too common around Nashville these days, so don’t miss the chance tonight.
Winter
Beginning as a collaboration between Samira Winter and Nolan Eley in Boston, Winter released their debut EP, Daydreaming, in 2012. The album put the duo on the map with their shoegaze influenced dream pop. This year they released their 2015 debut full length, Supreme Blue Dream, spent a month on residency at The Echo, and have been touring with the likes of Luna, Iceage, and Craft Spells. It’s not an anomaly that they are on this bill. Winter is an exciting pop outfit on the rise.
BRONCHO, *repeat repeat, and Winter perform tonight, June 29 at The High Watt. The show is 18+, begins at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.), and tickets are available for $10-$12.
