Last month, beloved indie/alt/pop punk group Motion City Soundtrack abruptly announced plans to disband indefinitely, mere months after the release of their sixth album, Panic Stations. A “So Long, Farewell” tour announcement soon followed, but no Nashville dates were included; disappointing, to be sure, but not unexpected, as MCS played here twice last year, both in support of their latest effort and, before that, on a 10th anniversary run for their classic album Commit This to Memory. Today, however, we’re pleasantly surprised to announce that the farewell run has been extended, and MCS will return to Music City one last time after all, Aug. 9 at Cannery Ballroom! Along with being your last chance to see the group live, at least for the foreseeable future, this tour also marks the return of original drummer Tony Thaxton, who left the band in 2013. Tickets to the all ages affair go on sale Thursday, April 28 at 10 a.m. CDT right here; needless to say, if you care about MCS at all, you won’t want to miss it!
