This year’s Road to Roo competition, different from the similar “Road to Bonnaroo” competition of years past, has entered the Nashville semi-finals phase, and last night was the first round with a competition at Exit/In featuring Heavy Sole, Kid Freud, OJR, and Omega Swan. After another intense competition, where each act was allowed to play a longer set than in the first round, Kid Freud and OJR will be moving on to the Nashville finals to face the winners of the second semi-final competition.
The second round of the semifinals is set for March 22 at The Basement East, and will feature The Cold Stares, Daphne & The Mystery Machines, Jess Nolan, and Roots Of A Rebellion. The two winners from the second semi-final will advance to the Nashville finals at 3rd & Lindsley on March 31 to face off against Kid Freud and OJR, and a Nashville city winner will be named. The Nashville winner will then face off with other Tennessee regional winners in the state finals at Mercy Lounge on April 4 at 9 p.m., where, finally, a winner will earn a spot at ‘Roo. Stay tuned for more information on the upcoming events contest and congratulations to the advancing bands!
