It’s been a hot minute since we’ve heard new music from The Electric Hearts, but the wait is over friends. The outfit we last fell in love with in the release of their 2013 EP The Life And Death Of Fritz Pepper is back in support of their newest full length, Soundtrack, which drops on Dec. 15. The band is sporting a new look these days as front woman Jessica Breanne teamed up with Jon Keller to record the new album as a duo. The tracks were recorded at the legendary Belcourt Theater in the late hours and early mornings, as Breanne tells us, “There’s a magic energy in the walls of this building. Over its 90 years, it’s taken audiences to other times and worlds and sights and sounds. Its halls have held laughter, sighs, tears and wonder. And if a building ever really had a beating heart, this one does. The Electric Hearts could hear it. Listen carefully. You might hear it too.“
Today, we are excited to stream Soundtrack a week before it releases. The album features more of Breanne’s powerful vocals over a fresh bluesy, psych pop backbone, and is worthy of a few repeat listens. If you dig what you hear, mark your calendar for their release show, which is appropriately happening at The Belcourt on Dec. 16 at 9pm. The show is free (with a $10 suggested donation), and will feature Breanne and Keller teaming up with a backing band that includes Justin Maurer (Colorfeels, Trail Magic), Linwood Regensburg (Those Darlins), Grant Gustafson (Blank Range), Taylor Zachry (Colorfeels, Trail Magic). Special Guest Dillon Watson (D.Watusi, Savoy Motel) opens things up. This is one of the last nights at The Belcourt before it shuts down for several months of renovations. Interested?
