If you’ve been following the site all year, you know that we (and, apparently everyone else) can’t get enough of local electro-pop songstress CAPPA, who has been met with universal praise and endless buzz since the release of her self-titled, debut EP back in the spring. A mainstay of the exciting new local pop scene, CAPPA has been keeping her momentum going with a string of fantastic recent shows, back to back music videos, and even another breakout standalone new single, last month’s “Other Girls.” For her latest release, and for the first time under her CAPPA moniker, the talented singer officially released a cover song last week, choosing to tackle TLC’s career-defining 1999 classic “No Scrubs.” Definitely opting to make it her own, CAPPA, with the help of frequent producer/collaborator Jon Santana, reimagines the song with a moody, layered, contemporary flair, fusing it with everything we love about her original work. Listen to “No Scrubs” below, check out Noisey’s premiere and CAPPA scrapbook blog here, and catch the rising star tomorrow night, Nov. 17 at The High Watt supporting Jeffrey James along with Daphne Willis (tickets here).
